One of the main reasons for running hybrid monks is versatility - there is no point bringing a skillbar filled with healing skills that all do the same thing when you can do the job with 1 or 2 and get a mix of effects in the other slots. For this reason, a monk bar is typically extremely cramped which is why they tend to not vary much in PvP play - the skills used are the best for their job in each area. Hybrid bars allow damage reduction, condi/hex removal, and healing with the most efficient skills from more than one line - allowing the monk(s) to do a better job in any situation while conserving energy.

Skills like RoF are so powerful because of their versatility - being both prot and heal at low cost, which rewards player skill more than something like orison.

As far as PvE goes, I usually have a RoF on the monk hero I take - later-game mobs tend to hit very high which maximizes the potential of RoF. My usual hero bar is something along the lines of;

LoD
RoF
Kiss
Guardian
SoA
Prot Spirit
Dismiss Condition
Power Drain

Note : I don't run hex removal on my hero because of the lack of concerning hexes in PvE, and because I run a Shatter Hex on my own bar and don't want the hero getting in my way.

Gift of Health...yeah i've seen it on proto monks before. Albeit, not all of them, but they usually have Zealous Benediction and/or a healing skill from Divine Favor like Signet of Devotion.
The heal spell on a prot monk depend on the rest of the bar in a lot of cases. For the most part, Sig of Devotion isn't worth the slot simply because of the cast speed - all you can do with it is top up bars which LoD does anyways. Most prot monks run Gift for the high efficiency - although some ZB monks do not because they have a power heal in the form of ZB already, and can use Dismiss as a 5e heal while using the heal attrib points to spec elsewhere.

There is really nothing wrong with running full healing and protect monk in pve depending on what skills they are using.I would tend to like the healing monk deal with hexes as I like to deal with the conditions but I can do both.

of course, because most of the condition removal skills are in the prot line.

Hex removal is one of the unclear areas in PvE. Before, I didn't take it at all because there weren't any hexes that were so punishing that I needed a hex removal for the sake of just removing that one hex. It's often a waste to remove a hex only to have the another enemy in the mob put it on again 2 seconds later. Now, with cure hex, I mainly use it as a VERY cheap 5 energy, 114+32 point heal that has the side effect of getting rid of a hex. I'm a primary monk, and none of my heroes have hex removal, making the health gain trigger every time.

P.S. <3 sad and I might want to set up a scrim with you guys to test a build sometime this weekend :P

I italicized the key part of your statement. For e.g., a bonder works well as full prot, and a Healer's Boon monk works well as full heal. Oftentimes though, a full heal monk is coming in with a subpar bar that could be improved by adding some prot.

There a very few debilitating hexes in pve. Healing through them with LoD and Dkiss is easier. It's also difficult to catch the precise hex you want to remove with the way monsters spam hexes, so using cure hex as a heal primarily is what I do too.

Sig of Devo is bad.

RoF is good. Learn to catch eviscerate with RoF 9 times out of 10 and you'll be the best monk in the world.

If you're good with RoF your use of PS/SB will decrease dramatically so you only use 10 energy when you really need it.

It depends on what you have on your bar with both heal and divine plus any secondary skills.I do have a good WoH and LoD template set up for mine like I have few hybrids and full protect ones as well.
